Jill Pierard
CEO and Founder

Jill has over 25 years of experience representing both individual and corporate clients transactionally and in court. She holds licenses to practice law in Illinois, Michigan, Hawaii, and is registered to practice at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  Jill entered law as a second career after initially training and working as a biomedical research scientist.  She has leveraged her science training to successfully advise clients on setting up new businesses to the intricacies involved in obtaining and protecting gene editing patents.

Jill has held senior legal positions in companies of all sizes, primarily in the chemical, pharmaceutical, life science, and medical device fields. She also supports small businesses, helping them avoid legal mistakes by developing strong legal processes and agreements. Jill advises clients on employment law, corporate law, transactional law, and commercialization strategies, and has deep knowledge of patent and intellectual property law to protect clients' assets. She has substantial experience in drafting and negotiating various agreements, including licensing, IT, supply, distribution, quality, material transfer, nondisclosure, and confidentiality agreements.

Jill has managed international intellectual property portfolios and advised clients on patent landscape and IP strategy, creating strong protection for their IP portfolios. She has experience with a variety of innovative technologies, including semiconductor materials, chemicals,  gene editing, cell and gene therapies, pharmaceuticals, biosimilars, peptides, proteins, and vaccines.

While Jill’s experience has been primarily advising clients on complicated technologies, that experience translates well to counsel clients in less complex businesses. She enjoys collaborating with entrepreneurs and seasoned businesses alike and has considerable experience in providing sound legal advice, tailored to the client’s business needs.
